Pearls of Wisdom ~ Azhaikindran Arangan Episode May 17th, 2012

World is hanging around mathematics. Who is the best mathematician, the bhagavan himself. The rotation of the earth is on mathematics. Suddenly the Earth does not rotate faster or even slower and there is no randomness in it. Not only Earth, thats the same with Sun, the Moon, Mars and Saturn. But in this rotation also there is a beauty, during Full moon, half moon and new moon etc there is a beauty.

So with mathematics there is a a beauty combined with it. If we look at the ocean the portion and the distribution of the oceans there is mathematics involved. Our heartbeat works on mathematics as there is a count, our breathing has a count, the pressure with which the blood runs inside the body has a count likewise we see in this world that everything is based on mathematics. If the bhagavan has established all these mathematics, what a great mathematician is he!

If I have done a wrong in my previous birth, even if I am born in any village, town or city my wrongs will come and sit on my head. Being anybody, born anywhere in another janma, if I have done good in my previous birth all the benefits will be got only unto me in this birth without fail and not go to another. How many 84 lakh variety of species are there and the bhagavan correctly delivers the good and bad karma of each of these in their subsequent births.

There will be 300 or 400 cows in a goshAla, on the other side of the goshAla there will be calves will be scattered hither and thither, once the calves are released the calves will automatically go to its own mother cow correctly. Just as these calves correctly find their mother, each one's karma reaches out correctly to him without fail and at the right time for example, we are sitting close to the bud of the jasmine flower, there is no smell from it as this is still a bud. But we go away and come back in 10 minutes and this bud has flowered and gives out a wonderful smell. Where was this smell before, where did the smell come as the jasmine flowered and where did the smell go once the flower has drooped down. Likewise at the right time, one's punyam and pApam starts to work. For the punyam and pApam to function, time, place and person is very important. Keeping these 3 parameters in mind, the bhagavan creates this world. If we take one's horoscope and give it to a astrologer and he says this person will become the Prime Minister of India, it doesn't happen tomorrow. As a result of his punyam he will become the prime minister. But when? The astrologer does his calculations and says a certain period this will happen. Thus there is a period when the punyam will start to function. Likewise if there is a trouble that is forthcoming then there will be a period in which it is bound to happen as the pApam starts to function. When the punyam finishes the prime minister post goes away and when the pavam finishes the troubles also go away. If someone has done much punyam he may become a prime minister then move on to become a minister etc., thus there is the period, place and there is a count. Similarly pApam also has a period, place and count. If there is an accident, when and which place is already determined. Place, time and person are the 3 factors by which the karma operates in this world. There is a fruit for each of the punyam activities we do - for example food donation, provide education for children, build temple, help people to improve their health but there is no one way we can beget for getting rid of all our pAvams.Take Ajamilan for example when he was good he had a list of qualities and when he was bad he had an equal share of qualities attributed to him. When 88 years old with a wrinkled face Ajamila was lying on a cot outside his home. At a distance away from him his youngest child named Narayana was playing. Now due to the pApams that Ajamila has committed, the dutAs of Yama came down to take him. Why the dutAs of Yama and not Yama himself. It seems that Yama himself will come only if one has done a grave wrong. "sa pasa-hastan trin drishtva purushan ati-darunan vakra-tundan urdhva-romna
atmanam netum agatan". sa pasa-hastan trin - taking the rope, 3 yama dutAs have come, looking ferocious "vakra-tundan" - faces grosteque and fearful, the hairs in the head are standing at ends - urdhva-romnaha looking black, sharp teeth, these yama dutAs have come. Whoever sees this will be filled with fear but even on seeing such creatures, the attachment to his son was still strong with Ajamila. He thinks that even before this yama takes me let me see my child Narayana atleast once.

One would fear seeing Lord yama. "DurE krItana Asaktham putram Narayana ahwayam plabithena swarEna ujjaihi Ajuhava AkulendriyaHa" - His hands and legs started shaking, yama has come and his life will end any moment. DurE - afar he can hear his child, krItana Asaktham putram - seeing the child absorbed in playing with his friends, Narayana ahwayam plabithena swarEna - in a loud voice, afraid that his call may not be heard unless its very loud increasing his swara called out "NARAYANA". Immediately this is heard by his child. But his son Narayana is still playing with the ball. His friends tell him, 'Your father is calling out to you Narayana". He says, leave him old man, let him shout! This was the irony, Ajamila who had so much affection on his child spoke like this! Narayana ahwayam - the bhagavan in vaikunta heard this and was pleased that someone was calling out to him. The child on whom this father doted all his life now spurned him, whereas on whom Ajamila had not even thought of for a moment, now thinks of him. Ajamila just called out his child but the bhagavan thought someone is calling out to me. He calls his vishnu dutAs and asks them to go to Ajamila. Coming towards the yama dutAs who are preparing to throw the rope around Ajamila the vishnu dutAs order them to stop. At first these yama dutAs look at the vishnu dutAs and "kim deva upadeva vayuyam kim siddha-sattamah sarve padma pala sakshaha pIta kousEya vAsasaha. Yama dutAs have never seen vishnu dutAs as there had been no need until now for the vishnu dutAs to be present at the place where Yama dutAs come. But with the call of Ajamila, these two dutAs had to meet with each other. Therefore this gruesome, hairs sticking out like horns on their hands, looking ugly beings say now "kin deva - who are these, are these the devas we often hear about? upadevava - or are these next higher up to the devas, yuyam kim siddha-sattamah - are these the siddhars, gandharvas or the yakshars? sarve padma pala sakshaha - look at their eyes like lotuses, pIta kousEya vAsasah - wearing the yellow robes signifying goodness, kritinaHa kuntalinosat pushkara mAlinaHa - in their heads there is a beautiful crown, lotus garland on the shoulders of all the vishnu dutAs. sarve nUtana vayasaHa - looking like young 14 years boys. sarve chAru chaturbhujaH - all with 4 hands. sangachakra ambuja sriyAha - they look like the saksAth Narayana himself. yuyamvai dharmarajasya yathi nirdEsha kArinaha - "we are all vishnu dutArs they said. Why are you throwing the rope of death around this man, why are you taking him?" The yama dutAs replied, 'He has done several bad deeds, our Lord Yama has told us that whomsoever have done wrong deeds have to be brought over to the Yama loka and thats why we are now taking him to the Yama loka. Due to the number of bad deeds done by him, there awaits lots of punishments for him. We are taking him'. Yamadharmaraja brings with him those who have done wrong deeds and will never leave anyone under any circumstances. Thats why Yama is called as Dharmaraja. Even now in villages, there will be a small temple called dharmarajakovil and that is the temple of Yama. Now the vishnu dutAs having understood the situation ask about the wrong deeds done by Ajamila. "yEna yAvan yathA adharmaH". Thats why the yama dutAs are saying they are taking him with them. They tell about Ajamila's life, he went to the forest and acted badly and thats why we are taking him.

The vishnu dutAs ask, what is the authority to say that one has done good or bad deed? Just because we say its pApam, it does not become so or we say its punyam doesn't become so. The only authority of pApam is vedam, sastram. Thats why the maharishis who have shown us the way - sastram, samskAram - this is how our elders and ancestors have lived with a discipline, we should not go against the principles, tradition, culture - our previous generations how they have lived with bhakthi and the way of life and that is called samskAram. How the country's law says that this should be done, this should not be done is what needs to be followed without denial. What is law for one country need not be a law for another country, even within towns the laws can differ. Wherever you are staying, you need to abide by the laws in that place. Just because this is good or that is bad not what I think is right or wrong, nor the fact that 10 people are saying that it is not a lie, a lie would become truth due to that. 10 people talking again and again about the same thing will not make the thing to be correct. Thats why, Vedam is the authority.

In the Bhagavad Gita, the bhagavan says, 'tasmat sastram pramanam te karya akarya vyavasthitau'. Sastras as shown by the rishis or mahans, whatever they have done please do and dont do what they have not done.

You dont have to study much, your archaryA or the Guru who has come with what parampara, the periyava who has walked on the path, just follow him blindly. Whatever they say, do and whatever they said dont do, dont do. This is right or this is wrong is mandated only by the vedam. Thats why say the yama dutAs that Ajamila has done much bad deeds and due to that we are taking him with us.
